04. I Want To Know

Love
by Inhabited

Are you here, you here, you here with me
Are you here, you here, you here with me
I need to feel you here, feel you here with me

You're everywhere I go
You are the water that heals the broken soul
You're in the whisper that moves the leaves
You're in a stranger's smile I meet on the streets
But I need you here, I need you here
I want to know, I want to feel
I want to see you move underneath my skin
I want to hear, speak to me
I want to feel you breathe, I want to feel you breathe through me

You're everywhere I go
You are the fire that burns and takes control
You're in the words that bring me life
You're in the starlit sky that sings in the night
But I need you here, I need you here

I want to know, I want to feel
I want to see you move underneath my skin
I want to hear, speak to me
I want to feel you breathe, I want to feel you breathe through me

Won't you come and breathe through me
Won't you come and sing through me
I'll wail, I will wait for You
And there's nothing that can change my mind
I've seen your face a thousand times
I believe in You
I believe in You
And there's nothing that can change my mind
I've seen your face a thousand times
I believe in You
I believe in You

I want to know, I want to feel
I want to see you move underneath my skin
I want to hear, speak to me
I want to feel you breathe, I want to feel you breathe through me

Marcus Acker, Sara Acker

Behind the Song:
"From the moment my vocals break through the music on this tune, 1am exposed, my humanity revealed. 1am the seeker, clinging to faith alone, but still 1must see Him. It goes beyond a fascination with religion or the temporary satisfaction that comes from knowledge of the Holy. It is a genuine craving for experience. The chorus is a storm of emotion, engulfed by my soul's cry "I want to know; 1want to feel; 1want to see you move underneath my skin; 1want to hear, speak to me!" It is one of the most transparent songs on this record. I was at a place where I had this burning desire to "find" God.

Yes, God is omnipresent. We can see Him in His creation. Still we often feel distanced and need to hear Him speak to us! Among the most disheartening places to live is outside the light of inspiration. I needed Him because He is my sanity. Without His voice, 1have no reason. I felt like I was groping in the darkness, trusting the verse that He will "never leave or forsake me" but feeling such a chasm between us.

I have learned that this journey is about faith. Our emotional highs will come and go. We must trust Him because He is the only thing that remains constant. He is faithful! Many times we will have to walk, step ahead, without that "feeling,' but faith will move us along. It is a place where the relationship is rooted in something deeper than emotion, and it will last the valleys of time. He is there." - Sara Acker (Inhabited)
