COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.-Groundbreaking Integrity Music recording artist and worship leader Lincoln Brewster returns tomorrow with Oxygen, his ninth recording and first non-seasonal studio project in more than four years.
Produced by Brewster and longtime collaborator Colby Wedgeworth, Oxygen offers 11 new selections, 10 of which Brewster co-wrote. Songs including the title-cut, "Live To Praise You," "Shout It Out" and the album's debut single, "Made New," showcase the guitar virtuosity for which the artist is renowned. "I played more guitar on this record than on any album I've made before," Brewster says.
Oxygen is also highlighted by several deeply personal tracks written and recorded as Brewster's wife successfully battled a rare form of cancer. The vulnerable "Sinking Ships (Rescue Has Come)" and "On Our Side," penned at his wife's hospital bedside, articulate worship in the midst of challenge.
"When you focus on the certainties of God in the middle of your uncertainty, you breathe in and exhale and put one foot in front of the other until you finish what He has put you here to do," Brewster continues. "We mix up facts and Truth all the time, but Truth doesn't change because of facts. My job as a worship leader is to sing and speak Truth whether I feel it or not. Whether the facts of our lives seem to match up or not, the Truth is we exist to praise God."
Brewster was recently featured on Fox News Channel's "America's News Headquarters." The subject of anchor Kelly Wright's "Beyond The Dream" segment, Brewster discussed his difficult childhood in Alaska and rapid rise to success touring with former Journey frontman Steve Perry, before leaving mainstream music to pursue his calling as a worship leader. Additionally, Brewster is on the cover of CCM Magazine's current (August 15) issue, where he further shares of the impact his wife's cancer battle has had on his music and life.
One of the first worship artists to be embraced at Christian radio, Lincoln Brewster is firmly established as a leader in the genre. With signature singles including "Today Is The Day," "Everlasting God" and "The Power Of Your Name" to his credit, Brewster's last non-seasonal recording, 2010's Real Life, debuted at #1 on Nielsen SoundScan's Praise and Worship Albums chart. He serves as Worship Arts Pastor at Bayside Church in Sacramento, California, in addition to performing at various festivals and worship events across the country each year.
Oxygen, an Integrity Music release, will be distributed by Provident Distribution.
