NASHVILLE, TENN. (August 28, 2014) - Last week, Colton Dixon, the 19 Recordings' Dove Award-winning artist and Season 11 American Idol finalist, released his highly anticipated sophomore album, Anchor. In its first week out, the album debuted at No. 1 on four charts, taking the top spot on both the Christian/Gospel Album and Digital charts, the ChristianRock/Alternative Album chart as well as on the Contemporary Christian Album chart. This makes Dixon's second No. 1 album debut.
On release day, August 19, Anchor quickly climbed the iTunes overall albums chart to No. 4 and remained in the Top 10 throughout street week. The album's first single "More Of You" continues to receive multiple adds every week and is currently No. 3 at Hot AC, as well as Top 20 in both AC Monitored and AC Indicator.
Along with Dixon's New York City media blitz last week, where he visited with ABC News, Fox News, US Weekly, Breathecast, Christian Post, performed on Fox & Friends and more, Dixon has also been featured in USA Today, on Fox 411 and in The Hollywood Reporter, to name a few. Anchor follows Dixon's 2013 debut, A Messenger, which set the record for biggest first-week sales by a new solo Christian act, becoming the No. 1 selling album of 2013 by a new Christian artist and the No. 9 best selling album of 2013 in the Christian genre overall. After his appearance on American Idol (Season 11), Dixon had national media exposure and received three Dove Award nominations, winning one for Best Contemporary Rock Album. He was also named a finalist in the recent Ryan Seacrest online Fan-Favorite American Idol Contestant from past seasons - placing 3rd overall. Colton Dixon has also been named the latest Steinway artist, following in the footsteps of folks like Harry Connick, Jr., Diana Krall and Billy Joel.
