NASHVILLE, TN (September 14, 2018) Contemporary Christian music veteran Jason Gray is always excited to release new music, but with his latest record, he’s exceptionally eager. The reason can be found in the album title: The Kipper Gray Sessions, named for its producer, Jason’s son. This 5-track EP is available now on all digital outlets, and the lyric video for its first track, “Mountain,” is on YouTube.

The project came about after Jason’s management and label heard some of his demo recordings made by Kipper. From there, the father-son team crafted this record with a fresh, dynamic sound. With Jason’s artistic songwriting standing as the musical backbone, The Kipper Gray Sessions presents modern pop grooves in the form of multi-layered vocal effects, progressive synth rhythms, and infectious hooks.

“I’ve played around with music with Kipper for years and had always hoped one day we could make a commercial project with each other,” Jason said. “As a producer, Kipper is fearless and just so talented. It was refreshing to be around that, and he helped me tap into it too. I think you can hear it in the songs.”

From recording vocals in Kipper’s closet to navigating their professional relationship, the collaboration was a Gray experience unlike any before.

“I was working under my son’s authority, which was a great learning experience, and not one that a lot of dads get to have,” Gray reflected. “It was so much fun and an honor to work with Kipper. Capturing joy is one of the hardest things to do when writing music. But I wanted the songs to feel joyful. And I think they do, not just with how they sound, but also because of where they came from.”

Jason and Kipper begin their Together We’re a Mountain Tour in October (dates TBA). Jason then joins Plumb on tour in November. For more information on his music and performances, visit Jason’s websiteFacebookTwitter, and Instagram.
