Nashville, Tenn. (July 2, 2019) — One month after We Are Messengers' compassionate song "Maybe It’s Ok" was named 2019's Breakout Single of the Year at the K-LOVE Fan Awards, band member Kyle Williams is breaking out in other ways. The guitar player's new composition, "Getting Started," was featured in an episode of NBC’s Songland this week, where it won its round (earning applause from songwriting mentor Ryan Tedder) and was recorded by global chart-topping solo artist Aloe Blacc. As a member of We Are Messengers, Williams and the internationally-beloved band hailing from Monaghan, Ireland have already earned a wildly-supportive audience in America, where five of the band's songs have cracked the Top 10 of the Billboard Christian Music charts (and three have also become Top 5 hits). Following the success of their Honest EP (3.29), the band will release a new single, “Power,” on July 12. “Power” will serve as the lead single off their upcoming third studio project, which was co-written and co-produced by WAM frontman Darren Mulligan and newly-crowned Songland winner Williams. About We Are Messengers:
"I wouldn’t change a thing," said three-time GRAMMY-winner Tedder, after hearing the first verse of Williams' song. "You’ve done this before; you know what you’re doing." Listen to Aloe Blacc's recording of Kyle Williams' "Getting Started" here.
Co-written by Williams, Justin Amundrud, and Joel Rousseau, "Getting Started" helps introduce We Are Messengers to a wider audience — thanks not only to Aloe Blacc's newly-released performance of the song, but also its placement in the upcoming summer blockbuster Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw. A spinoff of the wildly-successful Fast & Furious franchise, Hobbs & Shaw features superstars Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham reprising their Fast roles, and will hit theaters on August 2nd.
We Are Messengers is Darren Mulligan, Kyle Williams, Drake Kennedy and Drew Kerxton. With five Top 10 radio hits (including three Top 5s) under its belt, the band has played for more than half a million people across 40 states and five countries in 2019 alone — most recently playing sold-out shows in the Netherlands, England, and Darren’s native Ireland.
We Are Messengers wrapped the Hits Deep Tour with TobyMac earlier this year, and will continue to tour. Full tour schedule here: wearemessengersmusic.com
