Singer-songwriter-author-filmmaker and 2019 Dove Award-nominated Andrew Peterson releases Behold the Lamb of God today (Oct. 25) from Centricity Music. The album is available at digital retailers and streaming outlets globally through the link http://Andrewpeterson.lnk.to/btlog, and is in physical retailers everywhere.

A completely re-recorded version of Peterson’s acclaimed, bestselling Christmas album originally released in 2004, the new album reunites many of the original cast of musicians that recorded the first album, including Andy GullahornAndrew OsengaJill PhillipsGabe Scott and Ben Shive. Peterson and team re-crafted the original album’s twelve songs, including fan favorites such as “Labor of Love,” “Matthew’s Begats” and “Deliver Us.”

“That recording session was one of the best experiences in my life,” says Peterson. “I walked into the room with about twenty old friends, and we recorded all of the songs in two days. To get all of the energy of the players together in one place, people I have years and years of history with, was a joy. I’ve never experienced anything like it.”

Along with the new recording, a Behold The Lamb Of God Deluxe Box Set is available that not only includes the new album along with expanded liner notes, but also a mini-documentary about the evolution of the Behold the Lamb of God tour, the complete 2018 Ryman Auditorium concert in Nashville (including special guests Jess Ray, Jason Eskridge, Marc Martel, Sierra Hull, Ron Block, Buddy Greene and many more), and additional exclusives.

The new album and box set both launch in time to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Peterson’s Behold the Lamb of God annual Christmas tour that has become a cherished holiday tradition for churches and families who pack venues coast-to-coast each year. Known for its unique telling of the Christmas story through songs revealing the birth of Christ as it is foreshadowed and prophesied in the Old Testament and brought to bear in the New, the tour has also hosted a variety of special guests throughout the years, ranging from Allison Krauss to Jon ForemanSteven Curtis Chapman, and many more.

This year’s tour, sponsored by Compassion International and The Rabbit Room, will feature special guest Jess Ray plus its classic lineup of all-star artists and musicians traversing the nation into 14 cities, including back-to-back sold out nights at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium. Go to www.andrew-peterson.com for all the latest tour dates and ticket information.

“Whatever the rest of the year looks like,” Peterson says, “we come back together on the road and sing these same songs again. It’s created this unintentional liturgy of our lives for two decades, and it recenters me again and again on what got me into this in the first place—which is that God loves us so much that he put on flesh and dwelt among us.”

Along with the new music and tour, Peterson released his first adult trade book last week, Adorning the Dark: Thoughts on Community, Calling, and the Mystery of Making. A memoir of Peterson’s journey, he shares the intersection of songwriting, storytelling and vocation, along with nuts-and-bolts exploration of the great mystery of creativity. Peterson describes six principles for the writing life: serving the work, serving the audience, selectivity, discernment, discipline and community. Through stories from his journey, he shows how these principles are not merely helpful for writers and artists, but they are for anyone interested in imitating the way the Creator interacts with his creation.
