Lauren Daigle's Hold On To Me triumphs as the #1 tune on TCM's 2021 year-end Top 100 Songs chart. And Riley Clemmons leads TCM's 2021 year-end Top 50 Artists recap.
TCM's year-end recaps represent aggregated metrics for each song and artist from its weekly airplay charts throughout 2021.
Chart researcher Wes Jay says American musician Lauren Daigle garnered the most "high rotation" airplay of any Christian song on Australian Christian radio this past year with Hold On To Me.
"The song spent a total of 29 weeks in the survey," Wes says. "It owned the top spot for six weeks and dominated the Top 5 for 21 weeks."
Meanwhile, Riley Clemmons crowns TCM's 2021 Top 50 Artists chart with five year-end songs namely Keep On Hoping (#6), Headspace (#28), Healing (#39), For The Good (#54), plus Without You (#52) - a collaboration with Social Club Misfits.
Previous honors for TCM Song Of the Year include Together (2020) and God Only Knows (2019) both from For KING & COUNTRY, plus Let Go by Young & Free (2018).
Acts previously honored for Artist of the Year include Young & Free (2020, 2017), For KING & COUNTRY (2019, 2016, 2014), and tobyMac in 2018, 2015 and 2012).
Daigle is the first woman to win top honors on the Top 100 Songs since Emma Mullings with Skinny Roads (2016).
And Clemmons has become the first female to win top honors on the Top 50 Artists chart in more than a decade after Britt Nicole (2008), Bethany Dillon (2005) and Stacie Orrico (2003).
Jay says the annual airplay report also shows "strong support" for Australian Christian artists.
"A total of 31 songs by Australian acts secured positions in the Top 100; two scored places in the Top 10, and eleven in the Top 50," Wes says.
For King & Country, Young & Free, Emma Mullings, United, Anna Waters and Merise scored the strongest Aussie airplay this past year.
2022 marks the 23rd year that TCM (or TRAA as it was initially known) has published its annual research of the Top 100 most played high rotation Christian songs, and Top 50 most played high rotation Christian acts on Christian radio throughout Australia.
TCM this week replaces its regular weekly radio countdown that airs on more than 20 Christian and community stations across Australia to play the 30 top tunes from the Top 100 Song chart. Stations include Rhema 99.7 (Newcastle) and The Light Mix (Melbourne).
TCM has published its 2021 year-end Top 100 Songs chart, and its TCM's 2021year-end Top 50 Artists recap on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/tcmcountdown?ref=hl)
