Toledo, OH - “For we cannot oppose the truth, but must always stand for the truth. We are glad to seem weak if it helps show that you are actually strong. We pray that you will become mature.” [2 Corinthians 13:8-9]

To commit Perjury is to tell an untruth. This happens a lot in the culture, especially by the overly ambitious or the self-seeking. Any artist’s natural reaction to this kind of offense, whether they are a believer or a non-believer, is to respond the only way an artist knows how…speaking. But how does a Christian handle this without losing his identity? The best we can!

“The inspiration for the song came from the many years having to remind myself why I started making music in the midst of conflict. Hip-Hop is a real competitive culture, to maintain balance between being Christ-like and being an aggressive artist was a real struggle.” - Griffin

On March 8, 2024, Griffin drops his latest single, Perjury, featuring Illect artist Die-Rek as he prepares for his new project.

When you’ve put the time into a culture like hip-hop that an artist like Griffin has, you get to a point where you have experienced most things. You become aware of the surroundings, the trials, and the motives of others. Even in a space like Christian hip hop, not everyone is on the up and up. Egos get in the way and lines get crossed. This is the theme of Griff’s new record.

Griffin and Die-Rek take command of the Vintage produced single Perjury as they pass their knowledge to a new generation of artists following in their footsteps. The roots of the hardcore delivery go back to Griffin’s debut release, 2009’s ‘Samson,’ but have grown into it’s own patch of today’s faith-based hip-hop landscape.

Perjury marks the first release in partnership with indie imprint Polished Arrow Music. Griffin and label founder iNTELLECT have worked together many times over the years.

“We’re excited to partner with Griffin on this single and his upcoming project. Going back to his days as a member of the Tunnel Rats and up to now, you know that he brings a passion for Christ and top-tier lyricism to every track.” - iNTELLECT

Fans of golden-era CHH are sure to be excited for new music from one of the artists who helped lay the foundation for where the genre is at today.

About Griffin

Currently based in Toledo, Ohio, Griffin is a hip-hop artist whose origin is deeply rooted in CHH. At the age of 17 he gave his life to Christ and pursued spreading the Gospel through a more hardcore approach. In 2002, he made his debut on the ‘Underground Rise Vol. 1: Sunrise to Sunset’ compilation produced by the L.A.-based Tunnel Rats. He was recruited by Dax Reynosa, of LPG, to become a fulltime member of the Tunnel Rats, making him the youngest member at the time. In 2009 Griffin would release his first solo LP, ‘Samson,’ and while there is much unmentioned through his journey in CHH, much hasn’t changed. It’s still Christ, family, and hip-hop.
