The debut single from longtime guitarist of Sanctus Real, Chris Rohman, releases on the bands’ own Framework Records June 14th, 2024.
Drawing inspiration from classic artists like Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Huey Lewis & The News, The Cars and The Outfield - Christopher James & The Breakdown looks to be a vehicle for feel-good songs that are at home being played in an MLB ballpark or while cruising down the highway.
“I’ve just recently come to a place where I was ready to try this whole singing thing out,” states Rohman. Having been a part of writing every album and radio single as a member of the Grammy nominated band Sanctus Real, the one thing he claimed to never be during the last 28 years was a singer. “I was inspired by these classic playlists of songs I grew up on from the 80’s and 90’s and reminded of why I love music so much in the first place. I wanted to write songs that evoked the same feeling I remembered having the first time I heard songs like Free Falling or The Power of Love.”
One of the first songs written once Rohman decided to move forward with the side-project, Halfway Home is a look back at the road that led him here and a realization that although life is flying by, it’s all going to be OK.
Rohman self-produced the single and co-wrote the song with band mate Dustin Lolli and Seth Talley while also pulling in help from Sanctus Real drummer, Mark Graalman. Also featured on the song is Rohman’s father and son on Accordion and Bells, respectively.
Halfway Home is the first song in line from Christopher James & The Breakdown with more songs releasing in the coming months to complete an EP - happy listening!
