In March of 2023 Taking The Head Of Goliath made the decision to bring down the curtain on their career of bludgeoning riffs and blast beat battery, leaving behind them a furious live album of unbridled chaos – Beyond Brutal Live – a destructive self titled EP and the memory of scores of incendiary live shows. However, whilst their journey through the wastelands of death metal may be over, the Minnesota band have left behind a posthumous gift for the fans who have supported them throughout the years, a final explosive assault under the Taking The Head Of Goliath banner…join them for one last descent into the pit, with Futility Of The Flesh!

Futility Of The Flesh is a new four track EP that will stand as a fitting testament to Taking The Head Of Goliath’s unique brand of death metal ferocity, their potent blend of the technical, the twisted, the brutal and the melodic, always delivered with 100% commitment and unrelenting intensity. ‘Futility Of The Flesh’ itself gets things under way with a sinister, slithering riff and bestial vocals of impossible depth and toxicity that scrape the detritus from the dark side of your soul. Touched by madness, the song sends you flying on speeding guitar arpeggios one minute and grinds you into the dirt the next. ‘Septic Enslavement’ follows with its tumbling riffs over frantic drums. It’s overwhelming and overpowering, with its skittering riffs and frenzied rhythms – the epitome of Taking The Head Of Goliath’s eclectic, dynamic style. ‘Neoteric Tribal Barbarism’ is an absolute behemoth of a song, featuring passages of delirious speed with guitar riffs like insect swarms and was recorded live at Rayfest in the summer of ’21, capturing an incredibly powerful vocal performance from Jake Martin. Finally, the very last artillery barrage from Taking The Head Of Goliath comes in the form of bonus track, ‘Cord Of Three Strands’, the band’s independently released 2019 digital single. It’s a searing shot of darkness, laced with grandiose melody and the perfect farewell from a band that will be sorely missed. For those who have loved and lost Taking The Head Of Goliath, Futility Of The Flesh is a last roar from beyond the grave, a parting salvo to be treasured. For the others…you have some incredible music to discover.

Nothing was left to chance with Futility Of The Flesh, ensuring that Taking The Head Of Goliath’s final blow lands with maximum impact. Recorded by Will Maravelas (Thor, Incinerate etc) and mixed and mastered by Charles Powell (Carnifex etc) the sound throughout is devastating – and with cover art created by Pär Olofsson (Children Of Bodom, Exodus etc) Futility Of The Flesh is as powerful visually as it is sonically. Don’t miss this stunning concluding chapter in the story of Taking The Head Of Goliath, coming your way from Rottweiler Records on October 25th.
