Performer, vocalist and songwriter Franni Cash releases her first solo EP, Wild Child today, four new songs including her latest single, “Koolaid.” This reintroduction has been more than a year in the making, a personal and musical journey that follows her sudden departure from the multiple GRAMMY© nominated band she co-founded (We The Kingdom) nearly fifteen months ago. But she had her reasons.

Franni traveled West from Nashville where she turned the page on an exciting new chapter, taking the time to ground herself and settle into the person she was meant to be. When she returned to Nashville, Franni hit the studio revitalized and ready to create music that was purely hers. The result are four poignant and infections songs that do not shy away from her turmoltous past but do not dwell on where she has been, instead reveling in freedom and optimism for the future. She first opened up with her first solo effort, “Wildflowers” earlier this month. The song has an infectious, banjo-driven country groove and is a gentle, but powerful story of personal discovery, a reoccuring theme found throughout the rest of the EP. Listen to Wild Child HERE.

“I want this music, what’s out now and what’s still to come, to be relatable, to feel inclusive,” says Franni. “Most of all I want my music to mean something. I want to feel that when someone listens to these songs, they feel the same freedom I felt creating them.”

“Wildflowers,” was co-written with Austin Cain, Andy Cherry, and David Leonard, and opened a new creative relationship with producer Cameron Jaymes (Rachel Platten, Alana Springsteen) which encouraged Franni to explore her musical influences. The follow up, “Koolaid,” was co-written with Justin Wilson and sees her break from the past without apology and explores the negative effects of organized religious. “Misfit,” co-written with Natalie Hemby is a moment of confidence which immediately dispels the hypocrisy of Christian culture. Closing out the EP is the heartfelt “Anywhere” which was produced and co-written with Franni’s father, Ed Cash. The song is a message of grace that Franni hopes to extend not just to herself but to others.
