Nashville, Tenn. (July 22, 2025) — 10x platinum band MercyMe has garnered their 51st multi-format No. 1 song with "Oh Death" topping the Mediabase Christian AC chart after previously hitting the top spot on the Mediabase Christian AC Activator and Canadian Christian Radio Chart (CCRC) charts as well. Written by Bart Millard, Walker Hayes, Ethan Hulse & Tedd Tjornhom, "Oh Death" is the first radio single from their upcoming August 8th release, WONDER & AWE.

WONDER & AWE is the band's 12th studio project and follows their 2022 release, ALWAYS ONLY JESUS, which boasted the No. 1 hits, "Then Christ Came feat. Phil Wickham" and "To Not Worship You," as well as the top five hit, "Always Only Jesus." The new 13-track project finds the band collaborting with longtime producer Tedd T, who also serves as Executive Producer, as well as Brown Bannister, and new creative voices Josh Auer, Jarad Atherton and Carter Frodge. For the first time ever, the band also jumped in to co-produce all tracks.

“I've said it before and I'll say it again...I can't believe we get to make music for a living!" remarked Millard upon hearing the news of the song hitting No. 1. "Anytime we can write a song that connects with people on any level, it's a dream come true. 'Oh Death' is no exception!”

In support of the new release, MercyMe is embarking on a eight-date stint this fall with fellow hitmakers TobyMac and Matthew West from September 25 through October 5. Giving fans even more of the phenomenal in-person experience, “MERCYME LIVE 2025” is slated to continue through the fall with Natalie Grant and special guest Sam Wesley.

ABOUT MERCYME:
It continues to be a landmark time for the multi-platinum, GRAMMY® nominated, multiple American Music Award, Billboard Music Award and Dove Award winning band, MercyMe. Named Billboard’s Top Christian Artist of the 2010 decade, a major motion picture based on the life of frontman Bart Millard, who wrote the mega-hit song “I Can Only Imagine” after the loss of his father, opened at a remarkable No. 3 at the box office on Mar. 16, 2018 (Lionsgate, Roadside Attractions). In conjunction with the movie release, Millard penned a memoir and the band released a collection of hits titled I Can Only Imagine – The Very Best Of MercyMe. Now, a second major motion picture based on MercyMe’s hit song Even If is currently in production and is set to release through Lionsgate on February 20, 2026. The film will continue the inspirational true story of Millard and features J. Michael Finley reprising his role as Bart, alongside Milo Ventimiglia, Dennis Quaid, Trace Adkins, and Sophie Skelton.

In 2018 alone MercyMe was named Top Christian Artist at the Billboard Music Awards, was the top winner at the fan-fueled K-LOVE Fan Awards including a win for Artist of the Year, and was the GMA Dove Award Winner for Artist Of The Year. Since their debut in 2001, the band has sold more than 10 million units in CD, single and DVD sales, garnered more than 50 No. 1 multi-format radio singles, and had four consecutive mainstream radio hits.

MercyMe made history in 2014 as “I Can Only Imagine” surpassed 2 million digital downloads, making it the first song in Christian music to go platinum and double-platinum in the digital domain. The song is now certified 5x platinum.

In 2009, Billboard named MercyMe’s “Word Of God Speak” the No. 1 Song of the Decade and the group the No. 1 Artist of the Decade in both the Christian Songs and Christian AC Songs categories, recognizing them as one of the industry’s most notable talents. They have sold out venues throughout the US and Canada, including Radio City Music Hall, Red Rocks Amphitheatre, and have appeared on the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, Good Morning America, The Today Show, CBS This Morning, FOX & Friends, CNN, ABC News and in the pages of Entertainment Weekly, The New York Times, USA Today and more.
