Nashville, TN – Worship leader and songwriter John Stratton has released a powerful new single titled “The Body and the Blood,” available now on all major streaming platforms. The song, co-written with Josh Miller and Ryan Hall, is more than a worship moment—it’s an invitation to encounter Jesus through communion, capturing the deep spiritual hunger and transformation that takes place in His presence.
The inspiration for the song came in an unexpected but profoundly moving moment at home. One day, John’s young daughter approached him, communion cup in hand, and asked, “Dad, can I have more of the body and the blood of Jesus? We need more of the body and the blood.” That childlike desire for more of Jesus became the seed for a song that now gives language to believers longing for deeper connection during the sacred act of communion.
“I didn’t set out to write a communion song,” Stratton shares. “But when my daughter said those words, something in me was wrecked. Her hunger reflected the very thing we so often miss in our routines—the real presence of Jesus. That moment turned into a prayer, then a melody, and now it’s a song that I pray draws people into true encounter.”
“The Body and the Blood” weaves Scripture-rich language with heartfelt worship, making it a powerful addition for personal devotion or church gatherings. The track highlights the transformative nature of communion, not as ritual, but as relationship—an intimate moment where believers receive grace, healing, and renewal through the sacrifice of Christ.
