Singer-songwriter Mariano Allende makes his debut with a powerful and emotional new track, “Antes que Naciera” (“Before I Was Born”)—a song he penned himself that carries a deeply stirring message. Available in both Spanish and English, the single is now streaming on all major platforms.
Mariano is the son of the late Oscar Allende, known for his work on bass with the legendary band Pueblo de Dios and for accompanying Rabito during his early years. Mariano and his wife Stella have lived in the United States for over a decade, where they’re raising their two children. With a rich musical heritage, Mariano was invited to lead the worship team at a growing congregation in Los Angeles soon after moving to the U.S.
But what began as a typical journey of faith and music took a profound turn when a personal encounter with God led the Allendes into the world of adoption—forever changing the course of their lives.
“We have two children—Destiny, age 7, and Ryder, age 4,” shares Mariano. “Shortly after Ryder turned three, my wife and I felt led to adopt. We pursued the foster-to-adopt program and completed the process to become a certified foster home through the state.”
In October 2024, they received a life-changing call: a two-week-old baby had been abandoned by his mother and needed a home. The newborn had spent his first weeks in the hospital detoxing, as his mother had used drugs throughout the pregnancy.
“Suddenly, we had a newborn in our home,” Mariano recalls. “He didn’t even have a name—his official name was just ‘baby boy.’ From the very beginning, we prayed that God would reveal the right name.”
Amid the swirl of emotions, Mariano turned to Scripture for guidance and found clarity in Jeremiah 1, where God says, “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you; before you were born, I set you apart.”
“That verse came to mind immediately as I prayed,” Mariano says. “It confirmed that God had a purpose for this baby—that He formed him and gave him life. And we had the honor of being part of that plan. So, we named him Jeremy.”
This deeply personal experience became the foundation for Mariano’s musical journey. “Antes que Naciera” took on new meaning in light of their adoption story, even though it had been written before the events unfolded.
“The song reflects a time in my life when I couldn’t see the future I longed for,” Mariano explains. “I was single, grieving the recent loss of my father, feeling stuck in ministry, and distant from my dreams. That’s when I chose to fully surrender everything—my desires, my plans—to God. I trusted that He had a plan, that He had known me before the foundation of the world. Like David in Psalm 139, I understood that God knows all things, and I simply needed to trust Him.”
While the song was written before Jeremy came into their lives, the connection became undeniable. “Antes que Naciera” is now a deeply meaningful ballad, full of personal testimony and spiritual insight.
The track also features a special contribution from a longtime family friend—none other than Juan Carlos “Rabito” Fernández—who assisted with the recording process alongside producer Miguel “Bife” Provenzano. The song, available in both Spanish and English, is now playing on streaming platforms and radio stations throughout Latin America and the United States.
