Les and Joyce Carlsen Release "Free Will," a Power-Packed Classic Rock Declaration of Truth

FOR RELEASE AUGUST 12, 2025 — Legendary rocker Les Carlsen (Bloodgood) and his wife Joyce Carlsen have jointly released the new single “Free Will,” the first taste of an upcoming full-length album. The rock-solid presentation of Gospel truth is now streaming on all major social media platforms.

“‘Free Will’ is a simple, straightforward presentation of the gospel. No fluff. No rabbit trails. No UFOs or what-ifs. Just facts from the mouth of God and His word,” explains Les Carlsen, who has been making music honoring that same foundation since the 70s. “With this song, nobody’s trying to sell you anything or even make a judgment on your lifestyle. There is no condemnation at all. It’s just truth from God’s word. But it’s your choice. You have free will — choose wisely."

“Free Will” was written by Les and his collaborator Paul Jackson, who also contributed searing lead guitars to the mix. Craig Church backed it up with the steady chug of rhythm guitars, Juan Van Dunk’s steady hands on bass, and Dan Needham rounding out the classic rock sound with precision drum fills. Les leads vocals with backing from Joyce Carlsen, and the couple co-produced the track.

This scorching truth-teller of a song is the first taste of what listeners can expect from an upcoming full-length project, due out in November. The album will be funded through a Kickstarter campaign, which launched today alongside the single.

“We did a kickstarter for the first solo project, and it was a very positive experience. We got to make new friends and partner directly with fans to make the music and the message possible,” Joyce Carlsen shares. “I think ultimately, crowdfunding is about community and connection. As independent artists, we have more creative freedom and can get direct feedback from fans. It’s a win-win!”

The collection of songs that the Carlsens have assembled are proof that the John 3:16 promise is truly timeless: "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
