Fepeste Releases New Single, 'That's Okay'

Fepeste (pronounced fuh-pes-tay) is the surf and sixties tinged indie-folk project of Eric Jett. Foremost a husband, father, and whiskey distiller by day — Eric writes music in the cracks and seams of life, filtering his faith, hope, and worries into weekend jams.

Recording and playing most of the parts himself, Jett self-released his debut album in ‘23. The record garnered the attention of long-running California indie label Velvet Blue Music. Demos were shared, plans were made, and now his latest effort, 'This World Ain't Mine to Change', will be released on Oct. 24 (Velvet Blue Music).

The new album is preceded by two singles. The first, titled 'That's Okay', is out on August 22nd. In it, we hear Jett searching for contentment in his purpose, while lamenting his age, the uncertainty of the future, and his inability to determine the reach and fruits of his current labors. The juxtaposition of the melancholy thoughts interlaced with the bright, catchy melodies, clean guitar tones, and swirling organs are what makes it so interesting. It brings to mind song writers like Richard Swift and Damien Jurado, who just have a knack for blending sweetness and sorrow, and connecting with the listener.

‘This World Ain’t Mine to Change’ is another home produced offering, but this time mastered by Jason Martin (Starflyer 59). It's an ambitious and varied album, and though this world may not be Eric’s to change, an open heart and mind may find themselves not quite the same after a few good listens.
