Jake Isaac is no stranger to music fans with his soulful releases having reached many listeners over the course of a successful career. For some, they will also have followed his journey as a worship leader and songwriter who has quietly and faithfully served the church for over 20 years. Over this period Jake has led congregations in many spaces and places including churches, conferences and festivals (including the main stage of Big Church Festival with Martin Smith this summer.)
Now Jake has launched a new worship collective called ‘Jake and Mates’ and released his first live album ‘Songs of Deliverance’ that was recorded with friends at his home church in the North West of England.
With over two decades of experience of writing songs for the church, it’s no surprise that this album is packed with songs that are singable and translatable into the local church worship context, and one of the beautiful things about this project is the way that Jake has given a platform to many of his friends from the local church. Apart from the stunning duet ‘Offering’, written and recorded with Elle Limebear, Jake has used this album as a way of spotlighting the gifting that a lot of his friends carry. Songs like ‘Jesus Loves Me’, which was previous released by Life Worship and Jake and Mates, is led powerfully by Stefan Hutchinson, while Lilli-El Kwagala brings passion to ‘God is for me’. There are moments of high energy praise like ‘Thank You’ and there are songs of wonder and awe like ‘Holy One’, led powerfully by April Cheetham.
As the title suggests, this is more than an album, this is a collection of songs that have been prayed over and crafted to reveal the heart of God. This is a God who is there in our high moments but can also walk with us through our lowest valleys and can lead us into freedom and deliverance. The prayer of this project is that you would experience this as you listen to these songs.
Jamie Thomson, Head of Publishing and A&R at Song Solutions says:
“Songs of Deliverance is a special album because it captures a moment when someone like Jake has stepped out and followed the call of God to write songs for His people, but not only that, to also take his friends on a journey of doing that as well. If you spend time in a room with Jake you realise that he is not only a creative genius but he is also a pastor, a son, a friend and a father. This album is the moment that Jake has become a ‘father of the house’ and I’m excited to see how the songs he writes will not only help shape the church but also the next generation of songwriters and worship leaders that are to come.
‘Songs of Deliverance’ is released under Seachange Records and available on all streaming platforms now. Jake and Mates are published by Seachange; a new publishing imprint of Song Solutions.
