NASHVILLE, Tenn. – “One of Christian music's most prolific singer-songwriters” (Billboard), Matthew West,recently performed his songs of faith and unity for a live audience at “CBS News Presents: A Town Hall with Erika Kirk,” airing on Saturday, Dec. 13 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.

The one-hour town hall, moderated by CBS News editor-in-chief Bari Weiss, centers on life, loss, the state of political discourse and more, featuring questions from a live audience as part of a broader effort to bring together voices from varied backgrounds to stimulate thoughtful conversations.

West performed two tracks that remind listeners of their shared humanity — his poignant song “Be Close” and bold track “Unashamed.” “This is my prayer for our country, our world and healing in our land,” shared West from the stage. “Our reminder that we may walk through troubled times, but we never walk through those troubled times alone.”

Last Friday, West took his message of hope and healing to The 103rd National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on the Ellipse at The White House and President's Park where he co-hosted and performed. Great American Family aired the special on Friday, Dec. 5 at 8 p.m. ET and will stream on Great American Pure Flix until Jan. 31, 2026.

West is currently in the midst of a packed holiday season, marked by the release of Come Home For Christmas, a series of Christmas tour dates and his annual “Come Home For Christmas” weekend in Franklin, Tenn.
