After a three year long wait, Inborn Tendency releases their highly anticipated full-length record, “Let There Be Sin.” The band describes the album and its creative process as follows:
"This album is the destination of a very long journey, and at the same time, a new beginning. While the process has been incredibly interesting and inspiring, for a band like ours—working primarily remotely—it has required significant effort. We’ve had to invent new ways of working and change many of our internal practices. From the very beginning, our goal was to create a debut so strong that we wouldn’t have to regret it years down the line. We believe we achieved that goal 100%. With the lessons learned, working on the next album will be a much faster undertaking."
The band worked on the album with producer Juho Koskinen, who was responsible for the production as well as the final mixing and mastering.
"When we decided to start working on the debut in 2023, it became clear after a moment of reflection that we wanted an outside producer to provide fresh perspectives on the songs. We were looking for someone with experience producing music beyond just the metal genre. We happened to find Juho through mutual acquaintances, and that same year we released 'Heritage.' From that point on, it was clear that the entire album would be crafted with this team. Remote work has been a necessity and a natural way for us to operate since the band's early days, so the collaboration with Juho ran smoothly. The singles released so far have received excellent feedback on both production and sound, and we believe the full album will live up to the expectations of both fans and new listeners!"
The cover art for the singles and the final album was created by Henri Tervapuro, an artist from Ostrobothnia.
"We started working with Henri years ago when we released the Godkiller EP. Henri’s style of creating graphics through painting works incredibly well for us; it adds just the right amount of edge and narrative to the songs. Henkka got to listen to the tracks and create the first drafts based on pure intuition. This way of working has been very effective, and Henri’s art often brings new, interesting perspectives to the music."
The band's lyrics and songwriting style have been atmospheric and thought-provoking since their inception. The band has refrained from explaining or opening up the themes of the lyrics, aiming instead to let the listener draw their own conclusions from the stories behind the songs. The band describes the debut album as follows:
"The overarching theme of the album is the inherent sinfulness planted in humans from the womb. The songs' themes lead the listener to face their deepest fears and the evil that resides within every human being. Although the stories draw from Christian tradition, they provoke thought about the nature of evil, regardless of one's personal convictions."
"Something new, something old, something of our own, and something stolen," describes Ville Herranen, who is responsible for the lyrics.
