Inspired by Isaiah 43:19, the song reflects God’s promise of restoration and new life: “Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth… I will even make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”
Rooted in this scripture, The River speaks to those who feel stuck in dry or broken places, offering hope that God is still moving, still restoring, and still making a way. The song opens with an honest declaration of readiness for change—“Here I am just like before / But I’m not gonna stay here anymore”—and builds into a powerful chorus that invites God’s healing presence to wash over every wounded place.
