Nashville, TN (January 27, 2026) - Honey Ribar has released her new single “Child of God” to Christian radio, offering a powerful declaration of identity rooted not in past failures or shifting labels, but in the unchanging grace of God. The song appears on her 2026 EP No God Beside You and marks a defining moment in her continued journey from performance-driven success to worship-centered purpose.
From an early age, music felt inseparable from Honey’s calling. She still recalls sensing what she describes as the glimmer of the Lord’s voice while singing as a child, a moment that set her on a path from her Minnesota hometown to New York City, where she graduated early with a BFA in Drama from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. Her early career unfolded in theater and pop music, with high-profile performances at venues like Madison Square Garden and the Xcel Energy Center, and singles that brought growing attention. Yet beneath the outward momentum, she found herself searching for worth in roles, applause, and achievement.
That search came to a halt in 2020, when Honey entered recovery for addiction and eating disorders and chose sobriety on July 5 of that year. What followed was not just personal healing, but a profound spiritual realignment. She came to understand that while she believed God had called her to sing, He was ultimately calling her to worship. Today, Honey serves as a Worship Leader throughout the Twin Cities, using her voice not to chase validation, but to testify to the freedom she has found in Christ.
“Child of God” emerges directly from that place of honesty and restoration. Written as an anthem of surrender and identity, the song gives voice to the inner dialogue of shame and self-doubt many carry, confessing what it feels like to be weighed down by failure and false narratives. Lines about climbing “mountains of names” and fighting versions of oneself borrowed from others reflect the exhausting effort of trying to live up to expectations that were never God’s to begin with. The chorus answers that struggle with clarity and hope, affirming that identity is secured not by performance, but by being found in Jesus, made blameless, and walking in the favor of the Almighty God.
Musically, the track reflects Honey’s transition from pop into Contemporary Christian Music and worship. It begins with quiet, vulnerable verses that mirror moments of reflection and confession, then rises into a triumphant, singable chorus designed for both personal listening and corporate worship settings. The production, handled by Josh Zegan, also known as yesh, supports the message with a radio-ready sound that balances intimacy and power.
“Child of God” follows Honey’s 2025 single “No God Beside You” and continues the honest conversation with God that defines her latest EP. The project as a whole captures a testimony of surrender, stability, and trust, showing how God transformed her mess into a message of hope. Alongside her music, Honey gives back through vocal coaching and artist development, using her story to reach those struggling with addiction or mental health challenges and reminding them that they are not alone, and that joy truly exists on the other side of pain.
Written by Honey Ribar and produced by Josh Zegan (aka yesh), “Child of God” stands as both a personal confession and a communal declaration. It is a reminder that no matter how ashamed one feels or how heavy the past may be, identity is not earned or lost. It is received. And in Christ, it is secure.
