DULUTH, Minn. — Presence Music returns with a deeply honest, re-imagined release of “In Other Words,” featuring acclaimed songwriter Mitch McVicker. The new recording breathes fresh life into a song written from the edge of faith—where trust and fear collide—and offers a powerful reminder that God does not wait for perfection before stepping into our story.
Originally penned by McVicker, “In Other Words” explores the tension between relying on our own footing and learning to trust the steady hands of God. Framed through the imagery of a dangerous tightrope, the song confronts human weakness while proclaiming a grace that reaches into the mess rather than standing at a distance. Its defining refrain—“in other words… me”—lands as both confession and comfort, reminding listeners that Christ willingly meets the broken exactly where they are.
The re-recording pairs the song’s original grit with renewed musical energy, creating space for listeners who are searching, struggling, and hoping for something solid to hold onto. It stands as a declaration of radical grace and an invitation to trust a Savior who walks with us even when the ground beneath our feet feels unsteady.
“I wrote ‘In Other Words’ to help us remember that we humans are all basically the same, no matter who you are,” said Mitch McVicker. “It’s easy to be at church and sometimes think we’re in some kind of better-than group—like we’re part of an elite club.
“If we take Jesus at His word in the Sermon on the Mount, we’re faced with the fact that every single one of us has moments where we choose our own desires over the desires of a loving God, in so many different ways. Grace speaks loud and clear: we are still chosen by a loving God—every single one of us. So we should stop judging others who sin differently than we do.”
“In Other Words” is available now on all major digital streaming platforms.
