CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. – PLATINUM-certified, GRAMMY-nominated artist and songwriter Anne Wilson marked a career defining moment as she performed the national anthem for NASA's launch of the Artemis II mission at Kennedy Space Center yesterday, April 1 – NASA's first crewed mission to the moon in more than 50 years. Over the course of the mission, four astronauts will travel on a near 10-day journey around the moon, venturing farther from Earth and closer to the Moon than any human has in over half a century. Watch Wilson's performance here.
For Wilson, the moment represents a full-circle milestone. A lifelong fascination with space once shaped her earliest dreams, but after the loss of her brother Jacob, those dreams took a different path – ultimately leading her to music and a purpose rooted in faith, healing and storytelling.
“What an incredible honor it was to sing the national anthem at the Artemis II launch,” shares Wilson. “This moment feels so full circle for me. There was a time in my life when I dreamed of becoming an astronaut and working for NASA. After walking through deep loss in my family, my path changed in ways I never expected. And yet, standing here now, getting to be a small part of something so historic, I'm just overwhelmed by God's goodness. He writes stories far greater than we could ever imagine, and I'm so grateful to be living in His.”
That perspective would later inspire her third studio album, Stars, released last fall via Capitol Christian Music Group. Exploring themes of wonder, growth and finding meaning through life's unexpected turns, the record now takes on new resonance as Wilson's voice soundtracks one of space exploration's most historic moments. This theme is captured in the album's title track “Stars,” where she sings, “thought I'd be an astronaut, land on the moon, but life happens fast and I grew up too soon.”
Last month, Wilson released a reimagined version of “Still Do” with country superstar Cole Swindell, offering a fresh take on a fan favorite from Stars. She also recently announced her third book, “Rebel: Following Jesus When the World Walks the Other Way,” set for release on June 9. Following the success of her debut book, “My Jesus,” and the “Hey Girl” 40-day devotional, Wilson's latest work is a rally cry for a generation to live an authentic, countercultural and rebellious faith.
Wilson continues to bring The STARS Tour to audiences nationwide this spring with special guest Peter Burton. With over 2 billion career streams, Wilson continues to cement herself as “one of contemporary Christian music's most dynamic trailblazers" (People). Building on the success of a GRAMMY nomination, multiple Dove Award wins and recognition from Spotify, CMT, Billboard and more, Wilson's next chapter promises to shine even brighter. ABOUT ANNE WILSON:
Anne Wilson makes music where faith and country meet, a rare space where honesty, grief and hope live side by side. At just 24, she has already crossed the 2 billion streams milestone and emerged as one of the most distinctive new voices in both Christian and country music. Long before stepping onto a stage, Wilson dreamed of becoming an astronaut — a curiosity and sense of wonder that still shapes how she sees the world today.
Her third studio album, Stars, captures a young artist growing up on record. Shaped by the tragic loss of her brother Jacob, Wilson's faith could have been shattered — but instead it was strengthened. That tension, of wrestling with God yet still loving Jesus, defines her music and makes her profoundly relatable. “Faith isn't about never questioning,” she says. “It's about holding on in the middle of the storm.”
Stars threads together themes of grief, growth, maturity and wonder, carried by Wilson's soaring vocals and country-pop production. From the wide-eyed imagery of the title track to the raw prayer of “Carry Me” and the redemption arc of “Dead in the Water,” the album reflects both the hardship of loss and the joy of new perspective.
Alongside the album, Wilson will deliver her new music to fans in person on The STARS Tour. She's also recently released a 40-day Hey Girl Devotional, out now. Named after her encouraging anthem, the devotional is aimed at young readers, extending her message of identity and Christ-centered hope beyond the stage. Anne Wilson is still becoming, still wrestling and still rejoicing – but Stars proves she's shining brighter not in spite of the struggle, but because of it.
