NASHVILLE, Tenn.—Known for his virtuosity as a genre-spanning vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, NCS Records singer/songwriter Clark Beckham opens the latest chapter in a celebrated musical journey with his stirring new rendition of “Goodness of God.” Now available on streaming platforms, the American Idol alum’s simple yet impassioned piano/vocal delivery breathes new life into one of the most popular worship songs of this century.
Shades of Beckham’s signature pop, soul and jazz influences ground a nuanced take on the Ed Cash, Ben Fielding, Jason Ingram, Brian Johnson and Jenn Johnson-penned track. Revealing an arrangement organically inspired during Beckham’s personal times of worship and reflection, “Goodness of God” marks the first in a series of reimagined favorites he is slated to release this year via NCS Records (NRT Music).
“When I worship—when it's just me and the piano and Him—the way I express my relationship and adoration and respect for God is different because of the tools I've gained from learning how to play different styles,” Beckham says. "I think we get stuck in a mindset that worship songs need to be sung and performed a certain way, but in doing that we cut ourselves off from the beauty found in embracing other musical styles in worship.”
