Swedish Americana songwriter Tomas Enochsson (also known as ENOK) is honoring the legacy of legendary Christian rock pioneer Larry Norman with a new tribute project celebrating the songs and influence of one of Christian music’s most groundbreaking artists.
Enochsson first discovered Norman’s albums In Another Land and Only Visiting This Planet in the mid-1970s, an experience he says deeply impacted both his faith and songwriting.
“Larry Norman’s lyrics inspired and changed my songwriting,” says Enochsson. “I’m thankful he helped me dare to use everyday words and expressions to communicate my faith in Jesus. With great respect, I’ve tried to interpret his songs in a way that may help new listeners discover them today.”
Though not widely known internationally, Enochsson is considered one of Sweden’s most experienced Americana songwriters. After a brief but intense period as frontman for the 1980s band Badmintons, he stepped away from the spotlight while continuing to work extensively in music. He operated the music store Keyboard City and worked in the distribution and international sales of Nord keyboards, while continuing to write and record music.
Over the years, Enochsson has traveled regularly to Nashville to collaborate with established songwriters, and his music has been recorded by notable Swedish artists including Totta Näslund and Björn Skifs. In recent years, he has continued releasing music both digitally and on CD.
The Larry Norman tribute project also includes collaboration with Robban Wiresjö, who performed with Norman during the 1990s.
Widely regarded as the pioneer of Christian rock music, Larry Norman (1947–2008) helped shape modern Christian music through his bold combination of rock music, faith-driven lyrics, and social commentary. His influence continues to impact artists across multiple generations.
With this project, Tomas Enochsson hopes to introduce Norman’s music and message to a new audience while honoring the enduring legacy of one of Christian music’s most important voices.
