EAUCLAIRE BALANCES PAIN AND PURPOSE WITH "CHANGING"

NASHVILLE, Tenn.—With an earnest resolve to lean into life’s hard questions and embrace the challenges that come with authentic growth, acclaimed alternative-indie rock band Eauclaire bows “Changing.” Now available from NCS Records, the single channels the nostalgia of early 2000s alt-rock with a fresh, modern edge.
Penned by group members Bryant Urich, Justin Barnett and Kyle Kicker, along with Robert Joseph Ricotta Jr. and Colony House’s Scott Mills—the latter of whom also produced the track—“Changing” addresses the tension between the now and the not yet: “Don’t wanna forget while I’m waiting/Pain is a part of the making/So I’ll keep changing.”
The song is also reflective of the band’s journey. Forming as college students more than 16 years ago, Eauclaire’s discography traces a cohesive, yet evolving sound forged by time and perspective. Now husbands and fathers raising families of their own, the group finds solidarity in facing the growth and pressures of life together—shaped by change but defined by purpose.
“This band has always been a mirror for us to articulate what’s happening in real life in any given season,” explains Eauclaire’s Bryant Urich. “Raising a family is hard. Being a band in 2026 is hard. Making great music without cutting corners is hard. Following God when everything else screams the opposite is hard. But the joy that all those things bring when you stay the course is everything. We keep changing to become more like the One who never does.”
“When we accept the reality of hardship and work to make it through, the good times are even sweeter and more meaningful,” adds group member Kyle Kicker. “I’m learning to let go of control and expectations and make the best of what has been given to me, and I hope this song can encourage others to do the same.”
“Changing” arrives on the heels of Eauclaire’s evocative March single “Heaven on Earth,” a track inspired by and partially recorded at the Heaven on Earth Festival in Moab, Utah. Both songs will be featured on the band’s third full-length album and first NCS Records set slated for release in August.
ABOUT EAUCLAIRE Formed by college friends Bryant Urich, Kyle Kicker and Justin Barnett in 2010, Eauclaire (pronounced "o-claire") released their acclaimed debut, Océan Bleu, in 2019, followed by 2022’s Timber, the latter of which chronicles a deeply personal season of loss and rediscovery for the band. Eauclaire’s single “Depths” was showcased in the CW and Netflix series All American, and their music has also been featured on MTV, MTV2 and in various international advertising campaigns. Along with a sold-out headlining show in their hometown of Springfield, Missouri, Eauclaire has taken the stage at Analog, one of Nashville’s top intimate venues, and the group has performed twice at the Heaven on Earth Festival. Known for finding the beauty in the everyday, Eauclaire uses visceral landscapes, emotive harmonic textures, and timeless sounds to tell the story of the human condition and challenge listeners to be fully present in their own journey.
