New York, NY – (June 18, 2026) – IDEGO (pronounced like “id” and “ego”) writes with conviction; not only as a form of Worship but to reach the ears of everyone for his debut into the music scene. His talent has been recognized by tastemaker site Rapzilla, who has added IDEGO to their 2026 Freshman Class alongside the release of his singles “PRAY SOME” and “SHOCKING!.” Hot off this exciting announcement, IDEGO is proud to release his debut self-titled EP on July 17, featuring two brand new songs “bloodsoap” and “SO CONFIDENT” (feat. Peair). Having already garnered attention from Hip Hop Since 1987, Jesus Freak Hideout, Jesus Wired, JubileeCast, and more, IDEGO continues his trend of blending faith, rap, and EDM.
Idego shares, “This EP is meant to show what I am capable of as an artist. It is the essence of my authentic music and faith. That is why I decided to self-title the EP because it represents myself and what I want to do with music. However, the ultimate goal with every song is to point people to Christ and that is evident through the lyrical content on every track while also having a modern and somewhat experimental sound.”
“SO CONFIDENT” features longtime friend, collaborator, and rising Christian hip hop artist Peair. As heard with such artists as YungDrew, YakiTheKid and Kins, he joins IDEGO as part of the Rapzilla 2026 Freshmen class. The song “bloodsoap.”, taking inspiration from both phonk and EDM, is meant as a challenge. "I wanted the listener to really think about what exactly it is that we celebrate as believers. While it is amazing, it is also something to be revered. Christ suffered, shed blood, and died for our sins and because of that we are washed completely…it is the soap for our sins."
The Nashville born musician is slowly carving a niche for himself in a space where both strong faith and formidable skills can co-exist. IDEGO is ready to show the world just how far he can go with a little bit of gumption and a whole lot of talent. The origin of how he got the name IDEGO is explained by him: “I was in AP Psychology Junior year of high school and we were learning about the concept of the Id and the Ego, the Id being the instinctual desires of the flesh and the Ego being the opposite, more of your conscious. I thought of the idea of having these two sides of yourself, so I slapped both words together, and that’s how I got IDEGO.”
Growing up in Nashville, music was everywhere for IDEGO, even under his own roof. His father managed bands and was instrumental in the early days of TobyMac’s Gotee Records, working with artists like GRITS and Relient K, while his mother worked in product development and branding for bands. Christian music was a staple in their household, though so was secular music. “One band that my family really liked was like Twenty One Pilots,” he remembers. “But then as I got older, I started listening to my own music, and started listening to a lot of rap.” From Kanye West to J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar, IDEGO began drawing creativity both as a lyricist and producer.
He also turned to niche scenes like underground Hip-Hop and rage rap for inspiration. His own skills on the mic became evident, though at the time production was at the forefront of his creative endeavors. By the time IDEGO reached college at Birmingham’s Samford University, his desire to pursue a career in music was crystallized. “I majored in Commercial Music with a concentration in Production,” he explains. “And then a Marketing minor, just to keep my options open.” While in school, he began producing for Christian underground artists like Peair and A3, slowly building his momentum, networking at festivals like Holy Smoke! He released a production project last summer “as an experiment to self-market,” though something shifted where he began writing rhymes over his own beats. “I kind of fell in love with it,” he admits. “That's when I decided I wanted to be an artist.”
IDEGO states, “For me, the art I make is a form of worship. I wanted to pave a way forward where people can like my music outside of the Christian world, just purely because it sounds good.”
