FOR RELEASE JULY 7, 2026 -- Mawcore is back with their punchiest rock declaration on "Not Your Machine," going for radio adds and streaming now. You can find the song on Spotify, Apple Music and wherever else you stream music, as well as requesting it on your favorite rock radio station.
"'Not Your Machine] hits on a few levels because we walk the line between weaving a story that is very personal to us and also something many people can relate to in their own situation," singer Joshua explains. "This one came from the personal experiences of a lifetime of negativity poured in from people who should have desired to pour life into those around them. Watching and being on the receiving end of those in leadership trying to control those around them by tearing them down instead of lifting them up brought about the feelings of never being able to measure up -- or even matter."
"Not Your Machine" rails against those feelings of not mattering, pushing back against the lie of worthlessness.
"You can't change my life
Like you change a scene
You can't shut me down, no
You can't change my life
Like you change a scene
You can't shut me down
I'm not your machine."
Joshua expands, "Despite their attempt to bring us down to their level, we are not created to live defeated. We are not created to just go through the motions or to mindlessly fall in line. We are not machines. We are fearfully, wonderfully, and uniquely created beings, with a soul and a conscience, created to live extraordinary lives -- and extraordinary looks different for each one of us."
Musically, the song backs up the boldness of the lyrics, with Mawcore delivering a tight cinematic rock performance that sweeps the listener up in a grand spiritual story of resistance. The song is the first after the band took time in 2025 to refocus and recenter on who they are, musically and spiritually. The result is an identity mapped out with certainty. That foundation is the perfect place for a song like "Not Your Machine" to build from.
"We are going to be surrounded by this negativity and darkness, but we have access to hope, strength and courage to be more than conquerors," Joshua affirms earnestly. "The enemy wants us to be nothing more than a machine. We live in a world where people will take their little god complexes and try to control others through words, influence, social status, financial prowess and just about anything that can be weaponized. We are flooded with images, messaging and ideas, designed to keep us in their control, but we must push back and let the enemy know we are 'Not Your Machine.' We will not be held captive, pushed down or silenced."
Mawcore is anything but silent with "Not Your Machine," a triumph of a song that will lead listeners towards more releases coming later this year.
