In chaos, flame, and slaughter, only madness and devils seemed near. In that cold, grey place of dying, where hope had never spoken a word of comfort, there was every reason to believe the end would come in complete isolation. But knee-deep in gore and sin, in the violence of desperate savagery and the damp loneliness of fear, between the axe and the darkness, between blood and silence, there was still a voice that spoke.

Mangled Carpenter returns with their new EP Between Blood And Silence, the follow-up to their 2023 album Salvation Syndrome. Led by Seth Metoyer, alongside Kris Olson and Mac Hine, the band continues to build on a foundation of death metal and grindcore while pushing further into darker, more deliberate territory, shaped by atmosphere, groove and a subtle mechanized edge.

Metoyer's work across multiple projects gives that evolution added context. From the unpredictable grindcore of Pulpit Vomit to the more melodic direction of his solo material, his writing has never remained boxed into one expression of heavy music. Under the Mangled Carpenter banner, that broader creative reach is sharpened into something far more punishing, where structure, pacing, and darkness carry as much weight as sheer force.

The band's last release, Salvation Syndrome, drew praise for its intensity and character, with Metal Temple describing it as "a strong personality and a massive tsunami of energy." Between Blood And Silence builds on that foundation with six tracks that explore judgment, violence, spiritual struggle, and the search for hope in places marked by desolation and darkness.

The title track opens the EP with a dense, methodical attack, pairing controlled aggression with a mechanized fury. 'Carved' follows with a slower, groove-driven weight, using space and restraint to make each blow land harder. First single 'The Absence Of Light' pushes back into a more direct assault, blending abrasive textures with blasting intensity and carrying the EP forward with force and precision.

'Down, Down, To Goblin Town' stands as one of the release's defining moments, combining grinding power with a memorable structure and a vocal performance that is both sharply delivered and unrelenting. The EP also includes a cover of Mortification's 'Terminate Damnation', reworking the classic track through Mangled Carpenter's harsher, more contemporary lens. It closes with 'Short, Sharp, Shock', a concise and punishing finish that leaves no room for drift or excess.

Between Blood And Silence will be released by Broken Curfew Records and Rottweiler Records in partnership, bringing Mangled Carpenter's latest statement to a wide audience across the metal scene. Crushingly heavy, darkly atmospheric and unflinching in its purpose, the EP shows the band continuing to refine their identity without losing any of their force.
