The Rogers Family's 'Secret Place' Offers Peace and Calm

July 17, 2026 -- "We are so thankful to be able to release this heartwarming song written by Sandy Blythe," says The Rogers Family about "Secret Place," their newest single for Horizon Records. "We sat down with our producer and a long list of potential songs for a new album. When we reached this one, the Spirit of God settled in the room, and that was all the confirmation we needed that it belonged on the project. Hannah's smooth and tender voice beautifully conveys that peace found in God's presence."

Indeed, after the high energy feel of their first three singles since signing with Horizon, "Secret Place" has a sonic calm, offering a change of pace that, like its expansive arrangement, demonstrates the Family's creative range. Produced by Roger Talley, the song's opening blends Kim Shields' signature piano with a gently supportive string section before giving away to Hannah Shields' luminous reading of Blythe's celebration of God's promise:

When I am burdened and troubled inside
There is a place where my soul can hide
My refuge, my fortress, where I've placed my trust
When I am in trouble, I know where to run

And with sister Rebekah Shields and brother Samuel adding their voices, the song's memorable chorus underlines the certainty of Heavenly protection:

I have a secret place
Beneath my Father's wings, praise God, I am safe
In the shadow of the Almighty
Satan cannot find me
Oh, Hallelujah, I have a secret place

Says the Family, "We hope this song blesses many hearts as it encourages us that, when we carry burdens, there's no better place to run than to our 'Secret Place.'"

About The Rogers Family

The Rogers Family traces its roots to Northeast Georgia, where Ray and Helen Rogers began singing in local churches alongside their daughter, Kim, who also played the piano.

Kim later met Sammy Shields at a church in North Carolina, and the two were married in 1999. They eventually made their home in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, where they raised their three children: Rebekah, Samuel, and Hannah.

After Ray's passing in 2010, the next generation began to take a more active role in the music ministry. Today, the family continues to sing together, with the children often leading, while Kim and Helen remain active and passionate participants.

The current group -- Helen, Kim, Sammy, Rebekah, Samuel, and Hannah -- travels and shares their love of Southern Gospel music. With Kim still at the piano, the Rogers Family is honored to carry on the cherished tradition of faith-filled music and ministry.
