The latest craze in Christian music is probably the best one yet-- modern worship. From projects like Exodus, Listen:Louder, the upcoming City on a Hill, and the new Eterne, worship music by contemporary/rock artists are being released in abundance.
So with the release of Eterne: Never Be the Same, the listener is given a soft, melodic worshipful collection of praise songs-- some old, some new. Eterne treats you to a new Rebecca St. James song, new Raze, new Eli, and a remix of Audio Adrenaline's "Hands and Feet." Eterne is one of the first compilations in a long time that seems to comfortably flow from song to song as the album progresses, while featuring 10 songs from 9 different artists.
New artists The Benjamin Gate and Adore are featured as well. And some may be surprised to find that Adore is none other than Marc Byrd, the former lead singer of Common Children, and Christine Glass. Together the create a soothing melody reminiscent of Common Children's final album, Delicate Fade.
From the opening with Matt Redman to the closing with Audio Adrenaline, Eterne is a good collection of artists with the same goal and mission-- to serve and praise our Savior. If you're looking for new soft worship music that isn't traditional, Eterne has arrived.
