After taking a hiatus from touring and making music, Michelle Tumes is back to release her fourth full-length project, self-titled Michelle Tumes. Although Tumes has been in the industry for nearly a decade, one might be prone to wonder if her break from music has changed her artistry at all.
This Australian native has been known for turning music into a worshipful piece of art. She's also been known for resembling well-known acts such as Enya, and her haunting yet ambient vocals seem to make it a fact. Starting off her new release is the synth-heavy "Introit," followed by her lead single "Domine," which is a melodic cry to God to take away the pain that we may feel at times. Other standout tracks that highlight Tumes' beautiful voice include "Fair Weather," "Let It Rain," the symphonic ballad "Break Through," the peaceful melody of "Hold On To Jesus," the more fast-paced "Yearning," and "Caelum Infinitum" (which, in English, means "Boundless Heaven").
Many of the songs on Michelle Tumes express the way we feel at times, as well as evoking a sense of hope and comfort in our lives, as Michelle puts it. Other songs help remind us that even when we are far away from God, He is always there and ready and willing for us to come back to Him. Not only does Michelle have a knack for composing powerful, spiritual lyrics, but she also has an enchanting and hypnotic voice to match. Props to her for crafting an amazing album.
Tumes' return to music deserves a round of applause. Michelle has proven that even after eight years she can still create life-changing music. I highly suggest giving this album a listen if you like worshipful, ambient music.
