Pocket Full Of Rocks
Manifesto

Artist Info: Discography
Album length: 13 tracks: 51 minutes, 38 seconds
Street Date: July 24, 2007

Pocket Full Of Rocks debuted nationally in 2006 with Song To The King. Now, almost a year and a half later, they have released their sophomore project, Manifesto, hoping to maybe reap a little more success for their second outing. But can their new record stand alone, or does it simply add to the mixture of your average, everyday worship music?

The peppy, guitar-hooked "Good To Be Here" opens the album, expressing the wonderful fellowship that we can have with God, while "At The Cross" reveals the reality of the true forgiveness and cleansing the cross can offer. The organ-driven "Take Me There" describes the longing that we can sometimes feel to be in the same place where God dwells. This is possibly the best track on the record, both musically and lyrically. "Worst Of Us" shows us we are all sinners in need of God's healing grace, while the melodic worship-laced "Your Love" represents the capacity of Christ's love for all.

Definitely a step forward in the right direction for PFOR, but their latest release lacks the originality and creativity needed to mold them into their own distinct kind of worship band. With a little more time and effort, I think Pocket Full Of Rocks can shape and form into the kind of band that changes not only people's hearts, but perhaps the face of worship music as we know it.
