Blindside is so back! "Dead Weight" is everything fans love and could have hoped for from a new single from the Swedish alt-metal band. This single hits all the right notes, delivering a sauntering intro that builds into an infectious melody, a pounding bassline that drives the song forward, and a pre-chorus that culminates in a cathartic, passionate chorus. The instrumental guitar breakdown is pure ear candy, adding the perfect touch to this three-and-a-half-minute track that begs to be played on repeat. This reviewer for one, was more than happy to oblige. With their last full piece of work falling in 2011, a single in 2019, and previously unreleased songs included on last year's 20th-anniversary edition of About a Burning Fire, every small infrequently dropped morsel of music is gobbled up by listeners. Their devoted fanbase was set ablaze with news of a new song spreading on social media rapidly, and "Dead Weight" is sure to further whet the appetite for more. One can only hope this leads to an EP or full album of new material as the band remains in top form.
