"I had a friend who had been hurt so much that she put up a wall that no one could get through. She trusted no one, which hurt those she could have trusted. I read a story about how timid and fearful sparrows are, and it hit me that she was like one of those sparrows. As soon as I finished reading the story I sat down on my dorm room floor and wrote this song." - Francesca Battistelli
