01. Like A Machine

Oxygen:Inhale
by Thousand Foot Krutch

Got a red eye on,
Got a red eye on,
I gotta red eye on,
Gonna bring it on,
Like a war machine/
When it hits you like a wave,
You’re not gonna feel the pain,
Stand and face the rain,
Like a war machine/
Gotta give me a hey, yeah,
Gotta give me a hey, yeah,
You wanna play this game,
You can face the pain,
Like a war machine/
Comin’ thru like,
We’re comin’ thru like,
Hey, comin’ thru like,
Like a war machine/
Comin’ like a machine,
Fasten the hatchet door,
We ain’t gonna run no more,
Like a machine,
This time, I won’t let go,
Either step up, or hit the floor/
And we might rock the party,Oh!
But we ain’t gonna hurt nobody,
Step up, and hear the roar,
Look up, and see the machine soar/
You can see it rise,
But you’ll never hear it fall,
But you can see it’s eyes,
When it starts to rise,
Like a war machine/
When it hits you like a wave,
You’re not gonna feel the pain,
Stand and face the rain,
Like a war machine/
Gotta give me a hey, yeah!
Gotta give me a hey, yeah,
You wanna play this game,
You can face the pain,
Like a war machine/
Comin’ thru like,
We’re comin’ thru like,
Hey, comin’ thru like,
Like a war machine/
Comin’ like a machine,
Fasten the hatchet door,
We ain’t gonna run no more,
Like a machine,
This time, I won’t let go,
Either step up, or hit the floor/
And we might rock the party,Oh!
But we ain’t gonna hurt nobody,
Step up, and hear the roar,
Look up, and see the machine soar/
This armor that I’m in,
Can fight the feeling’s that I’ve been,
I’ve been, feeling,
Because now the time has come, to
walk the line and come undone, I will,
oh, I will/
And I am not afraid,
Of the power you contain,
And I am not ashamed,
‘Cause the truth defeats the pain/
Comin’ like a machine,
Fasten the hatchet door,
We ain’t gonna run no more,
Like a machine,
This time, I won’t let go,
Either step up, or hit the floor/
And we might rock
the party,Oh!
But we ain’t gonna hurt nobody,
Step up, and hear the roar,
Look up, and see the machine soar/

Behind the Song:
About the album OXYGEN:INHALE:
Oxygen is our lifeline. It's what keeps us alive and breathing. Most of us spend our entire lives taking half breaths when we were created to take full breaths. To live life to its fullest, to treat every day like it might be our last, and treat other people the same way. We can't see it, but we need it. It exists. It fuels everything we are.

Like our need for oxygen, our faith is our lifestyle. It's transparent, it’s who we are, and it’s not minimized to a genre of music. We make music for everyone. Because regardless of what someone believes, or where they stand on the issue, we all go through the same things, and can relate to each other. We all need hope, and we all need help. No one is perfect and we certainly don't claim to have all the answers, but who we are and what we believe will always be where our music comes from.

While writing, I dug deep into what OXYGEN:INHALE really represented as the title of this record, and what the symbolism of 'Inhale' and 'Exhale' really meant. I thought about our faith, our human nature, the many different walks of life we all lead, and the fact that regardless of the many details, that universally, all of us breathe in and out and rely on oxygen every minute of every day to stay alive. That's common knowledge, but fascinating when you really think about it. That led to the album’s underlying theme and slogan, 'Breathe Through Me.' I pictured prostitutes, addicts, business men/women, tradesmen, musicians, etc, etc, all holding a sign that read, 'Breathe Through Me.' Highlighting the fact that love includes 'everyone,' we were called to love one another, help and support one another, and to walk life together. Those words are our prayer not only for this record, but for our lives. - Trevor McNevan

About the song 'Like A Machine':
This song is about facing the adversaries in our lives. Whether physically, emotionally or spiritually, we all face opponents and obstacles, and this song is about not backing down. It's about not letting these things get the best of us, or determine how we're going to live our lives. - Trevor McNevan
