Robbie Seay Band
Miracle

Artist Info: Discography
Album length: 11 tracks: 54 minutes, 6 seconds
Street Date: March 23, 2010

Robbie Seay and the revolving door of musicians that form the Robbie Seay Band have developed a good name in contemporary Christian music circles. Their last release, Give Yourself Away, was a well-received effort and featured the hit single "Song Of Hope," which garnered a lot of radio play. This leads us to Miracle, the band's newest release in a worship market that is nearly saturated already with new releases.

While "Song Of Hope" was a venture away from traditional worship into a more rock-influenced sound, the songs on Miracle are pretty standard fare for the genre. The musicianship is exactly what one would expect from a worship record, not particularly compelling but enough to accompany the music appropriately. The lyrics are solid and not quite cookie-cutter entirely. Instead of focusing purely on adoration of God, the band addresses several different relevant issues, such as caring for the needy on "Kingdom And A King." The tracks as a whole are competent, mostly-satisfying praise songs that most listeners should appreciate. Included among these is a cover of Jon Foreman's popular song, "Your Love Is Strong." It's a good enough effort, but not necessarily any better than the original.

There are a couple exceptions to the standard worship feel present on most of the album. First, the biggest standout track on Miracle is "Crazy Love," a fun, upbeat track with a decidedly catchy hook in the chorus. Second, "We Are Not Alone" has a noticeable Brandon Heath feel to it, with a steady pounding beat and slight hip hop influences.

If you're a fan of praise and worship music, Miracle is an album to consider checking out. It's comfortably centered in the accepted norms of the genre, but it stays reasonably satisfying and should be an enjoyable listen for most.
