Paramore
All We Know Is Falling

Paramore is a relatively new band, and if you have not heard about them by now, you will. Fronted by 17-year-old Hayley Williams, Paramore is a youthful band that conveys strong emotions within energetic melodies.

All We Know Is Falling is the band's debut record. It showcases the band's potential, starting off with the rocking "All We Know," and leading into the song "Pressure," which was also Paramore's first single. "Pressure" offers honest lyrics like "Somethings I'll never know and I had to let them go." "Emergency," which has also been a single, says "I've seen love die way too many times when it deserved to be alive / I've seen you cry way too many times when you deserve to be alive." Now, while the members of Paramore have claimed to be Christians, they do not claim their music to be Christian Rock. This shows by their label choice, Fueled By Ramen (Fall Out Boy, etc.). So if you are looking for worship music, then this is probably not the CD for you. However, if you are looking for a positive record to listen to, then this just may be it.

All We Know Is Falling is an all-around uplifting album. Paramore has bright future ahead of them. 4 Stars.

Paramore is a relatively new buzz band hailing from Franklin, TN. The band is currently signed to Fueled By Ramen (Fall Out Boy, Panic! At the Disco, This Providence), featured on the upcoming Vans Warped Tour 07 and recently got a spot in "Featured Artist" section of Purevolume. The band has been receiving plenty of attention from punk rock fanatics and non-punk rock fanatics alike.

Now let's get to the album. All We Know is Falling is a 10 song, beautifully written album in the vein of the pop punk/neo-punk sound of Senses Fail (without the screaming, even though screams do come out on one song), Fall Out Boy and Akissforjersey. They even sound extremely like Flyleaf at times, as they too have a female lead singer. The album starts out with "All We Know," which has a somewhat ambiguous melody and takes a while to get into. In my opinion, this wasn't the best choice for an opener. However, the album jumps right into "Pressure," which is currently one of Paramore's singles. The song is a mid-tempo rocker with sing along lyrics like "I can feel the pressure / its getting closer now / We're better off without you" that gets your head bobbing in no time. It was also featured in 'Simlish' on a Sims video game, which tells you how far-reaching their music is becoming. The album then follows up with "Emergency" (another single and also a track from their Summer Tic EP), "Brighter" (a catchy, feel good song about lost love) and several tracks down, "Whoa" (which is the catchiest song I've heard in a while) and ending with "My Heart," which features Underoath-esque screams by one of the guitarists.

The album never really slows down in terms of nicely written songs, though some songs may get boring fast. However, if you're looking for spiritual lyrics to strengthen your Christian walk, you'll find none here, with the exception of "My Heart," which makes the vague connection to God when the lyrics read "This heart, it beats / it beats for only you" but it's unclear whether the song is about God or a boyfriend. Hayley Williams, the lead singer, has been quoted to say that "While Paramore are made up of Christians, they are not a Christian Rock band."

All things in consideration, this is definitely an album/band to check out. Also check out their Summer Tic EP, which features fantastic B-sides. Either way, if they appeal to you or not, Paramore will be at the top of the market for some time.
