Ben Fuller has an interesting life story. A cocaine addict, Ben moved towards God after losing his friend to an overdose. Church provided the answers he was looking for, and he switched from country music to the CCM realm. All of us are blessed by this change.

Although Fuller was a country artist before, his debut CCM album, Who I Am, is more radio friendly, most similar to Needtobreathe. Driving drum beats are coupled with his soaring vocals to present a true atmosphere of praise. Instruments used are primarily piano and an understated electric guitar (no major guitar solos). Fuller's voice is the main draw here.

The album starts off upbeat, with "World Changed" and the radio hit "Who I Am." "Wide Awake," this reviewer's favorite song, lyrically and musically hits all of the high notes, talking about how God opened him up to His goodness.

Redemption is a common theme throughout the album, which make sense, of course, based on the singer's history. If you want an album about how God can save you from any circumstance, God can help your life have purpose, and His goodness, this is the album for you.

Some of the songs on Who I Am can get a little repetitive and too CCM radio friendly, but at only 8 songs and 29 minutes, that is a minor quibble. Also, good luck trying to hit some of these high notes Ben can hit!

Ben Fuller is a new star in the Christian music realm. Fans of Chris Renzema will find another similar artist to him in Mr. Fuller. After repeated listens, this is a must-add from 2022 in anyone's collection.
