Social Club Misfits
Mood. EP

Artist Info: Discography
Genre(s): Hip Hop / Rap
Album length: 5 tracks: 15 minutes, 26 seconds
Street Date: April 5, 2019

READER RATING:

Fern and Marty are back at it with Social Club Misfits' new EP, Mood. The five-track release offers tracks like “So Our God Came To Us” with both Marty and Fern rapidly spitting fire in a track about our need of God and Him coming down to rescue us. The duo reminds listeners to stay strong and reinforce the message of not giving up. “Everytime” opens the EP and speaks on this same subject: forgetting insecurities and seeking the positive. The released music video keeps it light and fun with an assortment of pugs and ridiculous outfits. “Que lo Que” is a fun dance party anthem that flows over a Latin-fused rhythm with SCM spitting in Spanglish, sure to be blasted in youth groups everywhere. “Chinatown Freestyle” features a good message to focus on God's truth about our value instead of listening to the world. Lastly, “Up” is a simple, yet solid track with stellar beats.

In the end, this is Marty and Fern doing what Marty and Fern do as they represent those who feel insecure about themselves and point them to the Savior. It’s light, it’s fun, it’s good. While it may not be their best work, and there is certainly nothing mind-blowing found here, it’s a nice filler EP to add to your SCM discography. If you have been part of the Misfit Generation for years, this is definitely worth copping. Be sure to catch them live as they’re currently touring while promoting this release.
