For our 6th annual Highlighting feature, we're doing things a little differently. Normally, we select our top 25 most anticipated releases for the whole year, but we realize that it's tough to really gauge EVERYTHING that may release throughout a given year when we're making the list in January. So, for 2012, we're splitting the year into TWO pieces -- January to June and July to December (Click here for Part 2). Also, we're making each list 15 artists/releases for a total of 30 in 2012. So, without further ado, we give you Highlighting First-Half 2012!

#6. David Crowder*Band
Give Us Rest or (a requiem mass in c [the happiest of all keys])

Release Date: January 10, 2012
It's a bit of a pity this album had to come out so early in the year, as it resulted in a lower spot on this list; there's nothing to exactly anticipate anymore. Even so, we choose to honor the career of one of the finest worship bands in history by including their final album here. DC*B will be sorely missed, and I can't think of a better start to the year in music than Give Us Rest.
        - Roger Gelwicks

As Roger said, it's hard to anticipate an album that's already been released. However, since DC*B announced their final album, fans have been awaiting its arrival. The huge tracklist may have been a bit intimidating, but now that we've gotten the chance to listen to it, it's oh-so-fulfilling. Music this good from a band that's considered a worship band doesn't come around too often. Hey Crowder*Band....we love you guys.
        - Scott Fryberger

The anticipation is technically over for most of the world, but as of this writing, I'm downloading this record and anticipating experiencing it for the first time. So it still counts for me, right? DC*B's goodbye record, a 34-track epic, is already generating early "Album of the Year" proclamations. I'm expecting their best since A Collision and an incredible farewell to this beloved band.
        - Jen Rose

The anticipation is over for the album with what will probably be the longest title we see this year, but with 34 tracks, it's an album we'll be processing for a long time. And hey, we couldn't imagine making a first-half of 2012 list and NOT include this album.
