For our 7th annual Highlighting feature, we split the year into TWO pieces -- January to June and July to December. Normally, we select our top 25 most anticipated releases for the whole year, but we realize that it's tough to really gauge EVERYTHING that may release throughout a given year when we're making the list in January. So, for 2012, we split the year into TWO pieces -- January to June and July to December, and we're using this format again for 2013. Also, each list contains 15 artists/releases for a total of 30 in total for 2013.

If you think an artist may be missing on this list, please keep in mind they may have made our list for the first half of the year before their release date was pushed back to the latter half of the year (like Switchfoot, Five Iron Frenzy and Relient K, for example). 	12 of 15   #12. Guardian Almost Home Release Date: Late 2013 Ever since the release of their incredible modern rock album Buzz, Guardian has been a personal favorite. The guys have been teasing us with new material for a couple years now, but Almost Home is becoming a reality and those who contributed to their Kickstarter campaign already know from the samplings of two new songs that the record looks to be well worth the wait...         - John DiBiase The great Mark Twain has often been paraphrased as saying, "The reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated." As it turns out, the members of Guardian could lay claim to the same sentiment. The group was just hitting their stride when they went into semi-retirement just prior to the new millennium, and fans have been hankering for a full-length, English language album of all-new material since 1997's Bottle Rocket. And now, at long last, the wait is finally over. Hallelujah!         - Bert Gangl It's so cool to have a band like Guardian back in the fold. It's exciting to see if they return to their hair metal roots, or go with a newer and fresher sound.
