I remember, after seeing it on the IMAX that summer, my dad remarked that
Inception was pretty much a "perfect movie," and I realized I couldn't argue that. While I wouldn't quite say it's perfect eleven years later, it's a solid, unique, mind-bending thriller with great performances, a deliciously ambiguous ending, and a Hans Zimmer score well worth listening to apart from the film.
Inception is still one of Christopher Nolan's best.
“You mustn't be afraid to dream a little bigger, darling.”
Honorable Mentions: Knight and Day. Scoff if you will about this Tom Cruise / Cameron Diaz romantic action comedy, but it's actually a fun movie with memorable lines and moments - and still a favorite to revisit. (
"With me / without me. With me! Without me!")
How to Train Your Dragon is also another standout 2010 movie that is tough to pass by. My family and I still love that one! And finally,
Toy Story 3 is pretty iconic. It's a sad one (not as sad as
Toy Story 4, though), but it was one of Pixar's more special sequels.
