05. Grace Found Me

We Once Were
by Rush Of Fools

I never thought that I would
Amount to anything at all
I get that things have changed
Yet I still feel the same
But I'm not alone

'cause Your grace found me
I thought I wasn't breathing
My heart now sings
'cause You chased for me
I never saw it coming but my eyes now see
Your grace found me

If you had given me up
I would have nothing left at all
Nothing to give of myself
No one to take my place
But You came along

And Your grace found me
I thought I wasn't breathing
My heart now sings
'cause you chased for me
I never saw You coming but my eyes now see
Your grace found me

I'm covered over, I'm so wrapped up
It's all Your love, its all your love

But Your grace found me
When I wasn't breathing
Grace found me

Your grace found me
I thought I wasn't breathing
My heart now sings
'cause You chased for me
I never saw You coming but my eyes now see
Your grace found me
Your grace found me
Whoa
Your grace found me
Your grace found me

Behind the Song:
"Songwriters have, for generations, written about the idea of grace. With John Newton's "Amazing Grace" being one of the most sung songs in human history, there's much to be said (and sung) about the soul's need for grace. In one of our darkest moments as a band, God gave us our very own song about grace. In fact, what's curious about this particular tune is that it was the first song in our career that was wholly written by the band. Often, it's the norm for just a couple of us to write together, but since we've all walked through heartache with label issues, gear and transportation chaos, a mom's cancer and other tragedies, it seemed more fitting than ever to write all together. And while the religious person might struggle with the idea of grace, we embrace it. In fact, we're infatuated with the idea that we have, apart from grace, no hope in our own salvation, or in others to see the love story of God in redemption. For us, we see that God's sovereign grace is the very thing that gave us life, a heartbeat in our souls, for the very first time." - Rush of Fools
