**Evening Update** TobyMac, one of the three members of DC Talk, has issued a response to the fans' disappointment about the news:

"After 16 years of silence, we are thankful there are still so many passionate fans!

Someone came to us with the idea of Michael, Kevin and I getting together on a cruise and we thought, "That would be fun and it would be intimate, way more intimate than an arena tour could ever be."

We've said "No" to coming back together so many times, but this time we finally said "YES". It can be so challenging for us to all get together with our families going in different directions, and our own bands, and their families.

We are sorry it is not everything you wanted. We would never want to let any of you down.

-Toby"

Today, the much anticipated and hyped up DC Talk announcement was made at noon via a short video that featured highlights from the band's career in the 90s. The video played a portion of their hit single "Jesus Freak" and then revealed the big secret... DC Talk will be hosting the "Jesus Freak Cruise" in July 11-15, 2017. The cruise is set to feature DC Talk as a band again, along with the members' individual acts, Newsboys, Kevin Max, and TobyMac with Diverse City. Accompanying bands will all be from TobyMac's label Gotee Records, including Finding Favour, Ryan Stevenson, Hollyn, and Capital Kings. Details can be found at http://jesusfreakcruise.com/. Booking opens on May 16, 2016 at 8:30AM EST.

You can watch the announcement video below:

Obviously, a cruise is probably not what anyone expected and not really what many fans wanted. Instead of attending a show at a local venue, fans will need to book several days on a trip at sea if they want to see this super group united once again. It also doesn't look like fans will get a final album or new music. There's a slim possibility that this could lead to more opportunities, but with their big reveal being a cruise, one can assume that is the best fans are going to get.
