Popular crowdfunding site PledgeMusic recently suspended operations after coming under fire for not paying the artists who were supposed to get the funds that fans paid to PledgeMusic. (Read an article from February in Billboard with more details.) Many artists' campaigns were greatly affected, including Leigh Nash (Sixpence None the Richer) and Fireflight's front woman Dawn Michele who was funding her debut solo album, Surrender. While the album is slated to release Friday, May 24, from Burtonwood Records (iTunes), Dawn had originally sought fan support to make the album.
In an Instagram post this week, Dawn revealed that she still hasn't received the funds promised her by PledgeMusic and that the site's attempt to be bought out had fallen through. The singer decided to take out personal loans to help fulfill pledger's purchases, but this has left her in an overwhelming financial bind. Fans and supporters can help Dawn now by contributing even just a few dollars to her PayPal account at: https://www.paypal.me/DawnFireflight
