To film the music video, Rachel partnered with students from Destination Imagination, a global nonprofit organization that empowers young people to be innovative and creative through STEAM programs. She performed “Rainbow” live at Destination Imagination’s 2022 Global Finals at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Missouri, on May 21, and the students participated in the making of the music video.
Co-written with Vince Scheuerman and produced by Jonathan Crone, the same team behind Rachel’s hit 2021 single “Promised Land,” “Rainbow” was inspired by a journal entry Rachel wrote in 2015.
“‘Rainbow’ was inspired by a dream placed in my heart. I hope listeners are inspired to make their own dreams come alive and allow their true colors to shine,” said Rachel. “Before sitting down to write, I prayed for a song that would inspire millions of people, and asked God ‘what do people need to hear?’ I then heard God say, ‘they need hope, point them to me.’”
Originally from Prescott, Arkansas, Rachel gained international recognition in 2013 as a Top 20 finalist in American Idol season 12. Before competing on American Idol, Rachel joined multiple Grammy Award-winner Cece Winan’s Nashville Life Church, where she led worship, as well as wrote and performed on the Church’s debut album, Shine On Us.
