Last night (6.26), GRAMMY Award-winning Maverick City Music took the mainstage at the 2022 BET Awards. They performed their monster-streaming collaborative hit "Kingdom" and 16x GRAMMY winner Kirk Franklin's 1995 smash single "Melodies from Heaven." The "legendary" (BET) group then took the stage again, alongside Diddy and Faith Evans, to perform the duo's iconic chart-topper "I'll Be Missing You."
Additionally, Kirk Franklin, who was awarded the Dr. Bobby Jones Best Gospel/Inspirational Award for his collaboration with Lil Baby, brought Maverick City Music onto the stage during his acceptance speech. Not only did he give praise to the rising, genre-blending phenom, but he also proceeded to call on the older generation to pass their batons, while handing his gospel crown to Maverick City Music and dubbing them the next generation of gospel music.
