Today, Swedish metal band Blindside re-release their Grammy Nominated 2004 album, About A Burning Fire with 2 previously unreleased tracks added on. The band has been promoting it as coming to Spotify, but the album - with the bonus tracks - can be found and purchased at digital retailers like Apple Music, as well.
The two tracks, which had been recorded during the sessions for the 2004 album, are titled "Reign of Fire" and "Midsommarnatt," and stylistically fit right in with the rest of the record.
On the band's official Instagram, vocalist Christian Lindskog shares a story behind the song, "Midsommarnatt":
"I woke up in the middle of the night. It was midsummer and I looked out through the window and saw the sunrise or sunset, who knows? I decided to take a walk on the dirt road that led me to the lake. Birds were singing as the mist was hanging over the meadow. A melody and a few word popped into my head and I started humming what later became the ending of the song About a burning fire. By the time I reached the lake I was singing as loud as I could like a crazy person and bawling my eyes out.
The day after I told Simon over the phone what happened. Am I going crazy? Simon answered no, this is the title of the new record.
This song was an attempts to write about that night but since that story was told in a different way in the song About a burning fire we didn’t feel the need to keep it. Looking back I kind of feel that maybe it was a mistake, I don’t know?
