Sandusky, OH; Chicago, IL - “And it is necessary that the gospel be preached to all nations. So when they arrest you and hand you over, don’t worry beforehand what you will say, but say whatever is given to you at the time, for it isn’t you speaking, but the Holy Spirit.” [Mark 13:10-11]
What is necessary? It is that thing that you must have, there’s no way around it. In the book of Mark, Jesus explains how the gospel is exactly that. Not for some, but for all nations. No matter what opposition we have to face, nothing should stop us from sharing its good news with anyone who will hear us out.
“‘The Product,’ being the first single that we’re dropping from our upcoming album, is really going to set the tone for what’s next from Above the Clouds.” - iNTELLECT
Releasing on November 8, 2024, The Product by Above the Clouds is available to fans across digital streaming platforms.
Above the Cloud carries the torch in Christian hip hop as a throwback to the duos comprised of an emcee and beatmaker. Lyricist iNTELLECT (Ohio) and producer Tae Lamar (Illinois) turned plenty of heads with their debut project ‘The Righteous’ (recently a remix version of the album was released).
Now, the group is unveiling new music as they prepare for the next chapter in the Above the Clouds story.
The Product is a gritty, gloves-off approach to the group’s calling. As iNTELLECT describes, “With sharing the gospel message being the primary theme, we’re going to give it to you in a number of creative ways.” Everyone is looking for their fix. The question becomes, what is it that will scratch that itch? For Above the Clouds, it is the hope found in Jesus Christ that they know anyone willing to hear will benefit from.
Featured on The Product are wordsmith Griffin and deejay Kair One who provided the record’s cuts. The lyricism of the artists complements each other perfectly as Lamar’s production and Kair One’s turntablism tie the entire effort together. It may have been a bit of a wait, but if The Product is truly an indication of what is on the horizon, then the holdover has been well worth it.
Be sure to add The Product to your playlist on your favorite music streaming platform!

Rapper iNTELLECT and beat maker Tae Lamar formed the group Above the Clouds in early 2019 due to their common love for Jesus and 90’s hip hop. Drawing comparisons to classic hip hop groups like Pete Rock & CL Smooth and Gang Starr (who the name of the group is inspired by), this producer/emcee collaboration delivers a nostalgic brand of hip hop that shows that you can deliver the gospel over classic boom bap.
